Map and history of Tangail district

Map and history of Tangail district

There are many opinions and opinions on the naming of Tangail.  In his map Rennell, published in 9 AD, shows the entire region as an abyss.  There is no distinct place known as Tangail before 7 BC.  The name Tangail came to be known on November 4, 1953, when the subdivision headquarters relocated from Atia to Tangail.  According to Khandaker Abdur Rahim Sahib, historian of Tangail, the people of the country were more accustomed to using the word 'tension' than 'high' in the English period.  There is still the word 'tension' in the Tangail region.  The word isle was associated with this tension.  And that tan isle has been transformed into Tangail.  Many others have expressed their views on the name of Tangail at different times.  According to some, during the British rule, the Mughal administration sheltered Atia when the region became frozen.  At that time, the horse carriage was the only transport vehicle which the locals of present-day Tangail used to call 'tanga'.  Until the middle of the present century, the movement of the tangas in the region is still on the way.  The word Al comes into this context.  The addition of this al word can be noticed with the names of different places in the present Tangail region.  The word al is probably indicative of the limit whose native pronunciation is il.  The boundary on which a place is bound is called the isle.  Many people maintain that the Tangail isle has been added as a 'Tangail + Isle'.  The word il is associated with agricultural land.  This term is a regionally used term.  According to the geography of Tangail, its land is naturally high and sloping.  Locally whose synonym is tension.  So this area may have been formerly called 'Tan Isle' because of this land form.  Which has been changed to Tangail.
