Padma Bridge: 1 meter visible on the 26th span

The construction of the 27th span of the Padma Bridge has been completed.  From Tuesday morning onwards, the '8F' span was placed on the poles 1 and 4 of the Jajira edge of Shariatpur Bridge.

On the 7th day of the 26th span, the 27th span was also installed.  Padma bridge was visible 5 meters.

The span was temporarily mounted on the poles 12 and 6 of the bridge.  The floating crane arrived in front of the scheduled pillar at 8am this morning, leaving the temporarily placed span at the Pillars 12 and 9 at the Mawa edge of Munshiganj.  The work was completed around 1:30 pm.

Humayun Kabir, a sub-divisional engineer at the bridge department, said that out of the 12 peers, six were completed.  The remaining 5 works are also in full swing.  Soon seven piers of Pier-20 will be installed and reinforced with rubber.  The work of peer-1, 3 and 4 is in the final stage.  All peer work will be completed by April next.  Already, the installation of 25 spans has been completed.  Of the 3 spans of the Padma bridge, 3 were left.  They are due to be installed by July next.  So far, eight spans have arrived in China from China.  The remaining 3 spans will be gone soon.

Simultaneously, roadways and railway slabs were installed on the bridge.  Already, 5 railway slabs and 20 roadway slabs have been installed on the bridge.

China Bridge Bridge Corporation is constructing the main bridge.  China's Sinohydro Corporation has been appointed to govern the river.  Abdul Monem Limited has constructed two connecting roads and infrastructure.

The construction work of this bridge is overseen by the Bangladesh Army, BUET and Korea Expressway Corporation and Associates.  Construction of the bridge is expected to greatly enhance the country's trade, development and economic activities.

The creation of the Padma Bridge will create a new horizon in the country's communication system and will bring about a revolutionary change in the lives of about six million people in 27 southern districts.  Not only that, the southern region will have direct contact with the entire country, including the capital Dhaka.  Experts say GDP will rise by 1.5 to 2 percent.
